2011 Vols' Remarks

“Over the seven week trip there was two weeks of charades, five weeks working on my broken Spanish, high altitude-out of breath-soccer games, dirt floors, dormant volcano lakes, coolest kids, awkward dances, camps, construction, livestock (including guinea pig), learning and living in the beautiful highlands - and I wanted to share a little bit of the trip with y'all. Here’s a compilation of the video I took while I was in Ecuador: http://vimeo.com/30053418" - Garson Ormiston (2011 Vol, Ecuador)

"The AMIGOS experience is different for every person, community, or country, but it will be something you will never forget. You can't go into it expecting how it will affect you. But when you become part of a place and one of the people, the memories will always stay with you." - Isaac Levy-Rubinett (2011 Vol, Honduras)

"It was really great forming lasting relationships with people in-country, both volunteers and community members." - Sander Trubowitz (2011 Vol, Nicaragua)

"For my community’s 'Community Based Initiative', we purchased musical instruments for a school band. Although the band won’t benefit the town in the way that a more traditional AMIGOS project would, it was clear from the excitement on the children’s faces when they first received the new instruments and from the huge support from the parents in the community that their community band will bring not only great joy to the children but also pride to the entire community of Cerro Bueno." - Corinne Alford (2011 Vol, Honduras)

"My summer with Amigos challenged me in many ways I didn't expect, but at the same time it was an amazing learning experience that has helped me to improve myself as a person as well as understand more about the world." - Stephanie Irwin

(2011 Vol, Panama)
