Welcome to the Austin Chapter of Amigos de las Américas.

Amigos de las Américas is an international, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that was founded in 1965 and has over 40 years of experience in facilitating community development programs.

Each year, AMIGOS trains and sends about 700 high school and college students from across the country to participate in service projects in Latin America. Volunteers spend four to eight weeks in the summer living with host families to work on various programs such as health, environmental, technology and youth community development.

To prepare volunteers for the summer, they receive extensive training throughout the school year that will provide valuable skills, such as how to build effective teams to foster sustainable community improvements.
